Below are highlights of the interview:
Can you tell us about your most memorable closing experience so far in your career?
I received a “sign call.” That’s when someone sees your sign in a yard and calls you. Unfortunately, the home was already under contract and closing that week. In conversation, he told me that he was a veteran, had never owned a home, and had recently been scammed out of a lot of money. My heart ached hearing this on the phone. I assured him that I would never ask for money and explained that I had a lot of experience with VA purchases. He didn’t know about the no-down payment option, and I walked him through interviewing a loan officer to ensure a good fit. Once approved, we viewed several properties and found the perfect one for him. He and his daughter shed tears of joy as they signed the closing documents. They moved from a 500-square-foot rental to a 3-bedroom town home in Littleton, closer to his family. I was able to speak to a complete stranger, earn his trust, and now have a lifelong friend.
