Development of New Skills to Identify a Hire-Deserving Candidate
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Upskilling and reskilling have become more urgent as a result of the enormous transformation that the global economy is undergoing. For these transitions to be successful, there must be significant changes in the way hiring and employee development are handled. It was anticipated that employees will need new skills to keep up with the changes as a result of new technologies necessitating new working methods. But the pandemic decimated the labor force, hastening the demand for such vital skills even further.

The Report also demonstrated the need for specific occupations and job types to require competency in social skills like emotional intelligence by the year 2020. These social skills, along with work-related skills in areas of cognitive ability (creativity, critical thinking, complex problem solving), were highlighted in the Report.

Adopt a skills-based strategy

In the United States, job posts advertising talents and responsibilities rather than credentials and prerequisites have climbed by 21% in the previous year, according to LinkedIn, and the number of opportunities that do not require a degree increased by over 40% in 2020 compared to 2019.

When considered collectively, one can observe that businesses are beginning to be more deliberate in choosing employees based on their potential rather than their past performance. Traditional hiring practices continue to prioritize particular backgrounds in terms of training, work experience, or personal recommendations, which might result in a homogenous workforce.

Look for tenacity and adaptability

The priorities of practically every business and career change. As a leader, one want to be surrounded by individuals who are adaptable to change and eager to lend a hand when necessary. They are flexible in dealing with ambiguous and erratic circumstances, which is a sign of real emotional intelligence. Also, you want a team of individuals with strong minds.   The most resilient people bounce back from difficult circumstances by refusing anyone who intrudes on their objectives, plans, values, or beliefs. Those that are resilient do not allow themselves to feel bad about things that have happened.

Ethical Method

The most important trait People look for in coworkers is an ethical business philosophy. One wants to collaborate with someone who is open and forthcoming about their own strengths and flaws as well as with the customers and vendors. It is critical to have faith in the coworkers’ moral character at all times since employee behavior has a direct impact on the organization.

Self-Learning

In search of an autodidact. Recruiting someone who can learn new skills on their own is one of the finest hiring techniques. It is a valuable quality that significantly boosts productivity, especially if they can teach and motivate others to exhibit it as well. A corporation that fosters a culture of “self-learners” will thrive.

Assertiveness

Being assertive is crucial in a new hire. People value individuals that are courageous and self-assured when it comes to making choices, expressing themselves, and taking charge. To believe that this is a crucial ability since the individual has the opportunity to advance within the organization and take on a role where they assign responsibilities, making it simpler for the business to function independently.
