Below are highlights of the interview:
What motivated you to become a founder, and how did you progress to your current position at Beanstalk?
I always had an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to help businesses grow. When COVID hit and businesses across the country were struggling to stay afloat, I saw the opportunity to make an impact in the digital marketing industry, and Beanstalk! was born. I took a chance, leveraged the skills I had acquired from my previous jobs, and started a partnership with one of my closest friends who had a strong background in Sales and Marketing.
Tell us about Beanstalk.
In a nutshell: Beanstalk Growth Marketing is a full-service digital marketing agency that specializes in helping businesses of all sizes grow and reach their goals. But there are a lot more layers to it than that. Creating experiences, telling stories, and providing solutions that boost returns—that’s what Beanstalk is all about. So many companies today are just focused on the numbers, but for us, it’s really about creating meaningful connections with customers and driving more ROI in the long run.
How would you describe your leadership style? What are the key principles or values that guide your leadership approach?
I’m a big believer in transparency, communication, and integrity. I think it’s important to set the tone from the top down by staying connected with employees and partners at all times. My main focus is on creating a culture of trust and collaboration, which I believe is essential to any successful business. Logging in, getting work done, and logging off—that’s just not enough. To drive real impact, it’s important to create an environment that encourages open dialogue, listening, and learning.
What strategies do you employ to ensure effective communication and collaboration within your organization?
First and foremost, I make sure to keep open channels of communication with my team at all times. We all have access to our company slack, and I try to make myself as available as possible for questions and feedback. Additionally, we have regular team meetings where everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas. The littlest interaction can often make the biggest difference, so I’m always looking for ways to keep collaboration alive.
How do you motivate and inspire your team members to achieve their best performance?
Well, we’re big on growth, not just for clients but also for each of our team members. We make it a priority to give everyone on our team the autonomy and resources they need to succeed. We have a dedicated development team that provides mentorship, feedback, and resources to help everyone reach their goals. This way, everyone is given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
What is your vision for Beanstalk’s future? How do you see the company evolving and adapting to industry changes?
We have big plans for Beanstalk! We want to continue to be leaders in the digital marketing space, and that means staying on top of the newest technologies and trends. Wherever the big shifts are happening in the industry, we want to be there. We plan on continuing to push boundaries and explore new opportunities when it comes to marketing strategies, customer experience, and more. Trailblazing is what we do, and that’s where our future lies.
What are the major challenges you face as an entrepreneur in the sector? How do you overcome these challenges?
There are always going to be challenges when it comes to running a business, but one of the biggest ones I’ve faced as an entrepreneur in this industry is keeping up with changing trends. It’s important to stay ahead of the game, which can be difficult when things are constantly changing. So, I make sure to stay connected with industry leaders and keep a finger on the pulse of the digital marketing world. Additionally, I’m always looking for ways to optimize our processes and better understand customer behaviors, so we can stay ahead of the curve. The team at Beanstalk is also constantly exploring new technologies, strategies, and solutions designed specifically for our clients’ needs. This helps us stay agile and prepared for whatever comes our way.
As a founder, how do you maintain a healthy work-life balance? What practices or activities do you engage in outside of work to recharge and rejuvenate?
Boundaries are key! I’m a big believer in working hard, but also knowing when to step away from the computer and take some time for myself. Whether that’s grabbing a few drinks with friends, doing outdoor activities such as boating, hiking and snowboarding, or just spending time with my son, I always carve out time to do the things that bring me joy. It’s important for entrepreneurs to remember that it’s okay to take a break and recharge. In the end, it helps make us better leaders and more creative problem-solvers.
What advice would you give to aspiring leaders who are looking to make a significant impact in their respective industries?
Don’t be afraid to go against the grain or think outside the box– it’s often the riskiest decisions that lead to the most rewarding outcomes. Surround yourself with people who have different perspectives and expertise than you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. The most successful entrepreneurs are those who make connections and build relationships. Finally, be patient—success doesn’t happen overnight. Have faith in yourself and your vision, and be committed to doing whatever it takes to make it happen.
