Below are highlights of the interview:
Can you tell us about your background and how it led you to your current position?
From an early age, I was fascinated by technology and entertainment. My first innocent business venture was selling phone ringtones in elementary school, marking the beginning of my journey in these fields. As time passed, I developed an interest in computer games; this passion evolved from playing to a managerial role in an esports team, where I honed my leadership skills. My diverse experiences in the technology and entertainment sector, including work in an esports startup and product management at Red Sky, led to the founding of PlumResearch. Every stage of my life, though varied, was a cohesive path that merged my interests in technology, data, and entertainment, leading me to my current role.
Can you share some pivotal moments or experiences from your career that have shaped your approach to business and entrepreneurship?
It’s challenging to pinpoint specific turning points in my career, but my interest in esports had a significant impact. Observing how many people are drawn to broadcasted tournaments and how this contributes to the growth of communities steered me towards data analysis. Understanding how data affects the development and popularity of games eventually evolved into an interest in technology that would allow for a broader examination of audience behaviors beyond just a view for X seconds.”
What inspired you to establish this company? How does this initiative reflect your life purpose and vision for making a positive difference?
The founding of PlumResearch was motivated by my interest in technology and changes in the entertainment industry. The idea emerged when I noticed a significant gap in how film studios and broadcast channels utilize viewer data. PlumResearch is not just an analytics firm; it’s a tool that enables smarter, data-driven decision-making. Skillful use of data enhances the viewer experience, which effectively translates into swift and precise responses from creators and broadcasters.
How do you measure the impact of your work, both personally and through your company, in supporting individuals to actualize their potential and become their best selves?
The impact of our work is measured by the success and growth of our clients. Personally, it’s gratifying to see how our data insights empower businesses to thrive and adapt in a rapidly changing industry. Through PlumResearch, we are contributing to the evolution of the entertainment industry.
How do you integrate character development with the acquisition of soft and technical skills in your framework?
At PlumResearch, we foster an environment where character development and skill acquisition go hand in hand. We encourage continuous learning, curiosity, and resilience, considering them as vital as technical expertise. Nurturing a team culture that values both personal growth and professional development is key to our success.
What are your long-term goals, and how do you envision its evolution in the coming years?
Looking ahead, I see PlumResearch continuing to innovate at the intersection of data and entertainment. Our goal is not only to expand our analytical capabilities and delve deeper into consumer behavior but also to educate the entertainment industry about the importance of data value. We aim to highlight that it’s not just about whether someone watched a film or series, but how deeply they were engaged with it. Exploring new areas such as the integration of artificial intelligence is also a key focus for us. In the long term, I envision PlumResearch as synonymous with insightful, transformative data solutions in the global entertainment industry, where the value of data is a fundamental element of success.
On a personal level, what brings you the greatest fulfillment and satisfaction in your work and mentoring others?
The greatest fulfillment for me comes from seeing the tangible impact of our work – how it helps shape strategies and decisions in the entertainment industry. Mentoring others and watching them grow, develop, and succeed in their own right is equally rewarding.
