We don’t pit our members against one another to compete for the highest scores. Our members encourage and motivate one another – keeping the workouts and atmosphere upbeat, entertaining, and fun.”-Leyva
The Vision that Comprises Commitment and Devotion
Jesse never once doubted that Outlaw FitCamp® would be successful and carve out its own niche in the fitness industry. Outlaw FitCamp® is more than just a workout, it’s being a part of someone’s journey and changing lives for the better. He mentions, “Too many times, people who want to get into physical fitness don’t know where to begin, and the training programs available are more cookie-cutter in nature. They also get stuck working out in these massive corporate gyms, where they struggle to gain access to the right machines and often find themselves feeling insecure about where they are in relation to everyone else in the gym.”
Outlaw FitCamp® is a first-of-its-kind, game-changing industry model that offers both personal training and group fitness. As a result, clients become in better shape and feel more confident, which has a cascading effect that improves their relationships with family members and their entire well-being (kids, spouses, parents, etc.). Additionally, trainers take pride and responsibility in the work they do each day and have fun doing it with the creativity to plan workouts for personal training members custom to their goals. Jesse asserts, “OFC is built by trainers for trainers. We’re a family here, and we all genuinely feel like we are making a difference in people’s lives.
Major difficulties during the Pandemic
According to Jesse, the biggest difficulty during the pandemic was that the fitness sector was being labelled “non-essential.” He shares, “We are every bit invested in personal health and fitness, and if we’re not open, we can’t help people.” As a result, the studios were shut down for over two months. However, the brand stayed in constant communication with its customers. Within a week, OFC was offering full virtual workouts with its trainers and were able to extend member credits to be used once studios opened after Covid. Jesse recalls, “We designed a stay-at-home lifestyle challenge and fuel plans that were free to the public during that difficult time, the program is called Outlaw55 and can be accessed at Outlaw55.com. We also retained almost all of our customers and employees, which helped us maintain the unique and vibrant culture that our Outlaw members know and rely on.”
When the brand was given permission to reopen, it began by exercising in the parking lot. From there, it completely reinvented the group fitness structure to make it a cleaner, safer, more effective, and more accessible form of exercise. The Studios of Outlaw FitCamp are now back on schedule. It was never out of sync in many ways.
Instilling a Performance Culture with Ensurity
“Coachability is a huge piece, but also the ability to be compassionate, outgoing, and caring,” says Jesse. Outlaw FitCamp is a people business from leading staff to serving members. If you don’t care about people or have empathy for where people are in their fitness journeys or life goals, he believes it doesn’t matter if you have all the training certifications in the world or have competed on the largest stages. Outlaw FitCamp is a place that needs a strong team leader and dedicated, passionate trainers committed to serve their members and team towards reaching their goals.
At OFC we not only think of our members but our teammates too. Outlaw FitCamp® is a fun, energetic and fulfilling place to work for a personal trainer. Typically we seek hybrid trainers who are leaders in coaching group fitness classes and one-on-one/small group personal training sessions. This hybrid trainer has more ability to book themselves up and make their own pay increases. For franchisees, we offer owner/operator and semi-absentee options; for either set up, Outlaw FitCamp® provides support from the day of signing, to opening day and beyond. Once open and operating we work directly with each franchisee to offer support and guidance in each stage of their business.
The Process to Join the Outlaw Family
The Outlaw FitCamp® discovery process takes anywhere from 3–5 weeks and involves in-person or Zoom interviews to introduce candidates to the brand and see if we share the same mission and vision. Outlaw FitCamp® states, “We offer in-person or virtual tours of our facilities and opportunities to meet our management team and trainers, construction team, marketing team, etc.” He further adds, “It’s a painstaking but necessary process to ensure we are honouring what we’ve built and our vision of where we’d like to go.
Before their pre-sales begin, The Brand has a training programme that begins via Zoom and extends to location-based training for sales, personal training, and group fitness. It has assembled a number of teams, including social media managers, construction teams, and marketing suppliers and beyond, to assist its franchisees at every stage. Therefore, everything that might first seem overwhelming from a setup perspective is all turnkey for our franchisees.
Future Goals
The Outlaw FitCamp® team aim to grow strategically within certain key states and make sure it continues to bring the right franchisees on board. The brand believes, “Having a great corporate team only works when we also have the right trainers, staff, and franchisees.” Outlaw FitCamp® is constantly creating new things and adding to its services so that it can avoid being stagnant and its customer can receive the best experience possible. Jesse says, “All of this combined ultimately continues our push to be a successful company and game-changer in the fitness industry.”
